These are T-nuts for plywood, sold in a pack of 20. As pictured, each has a threaded barrel and a flange with prongs that bite into the wood when hammered in.
In office and salon chairs, T-nuts give the plywood seat a metal thread so bolts from the mechanism or arms can be screwed in firmly. When a thread strips or a nut pulls out, the seat comes loose; fitting a new T-nut fixes it.
A pack of 20 covers several seats, so it is worth keeping in a repair kit. Confirm the thread size and barrel length against your bolts before ordering. Price includes GST and comes with a GST invoice.
